Description
For a quarter of a century, the James Taylor Quartet have set the standard for the coolest funky acid jazz. With their prolific recording and live schedule, they've quietly become a byword for distinguished British creativity.
JTQ have made dozens of mighty albums but The Rochester Mass is a one-of-a-kind. Recorded in just one day with the forty-strong Rochester Choir, The Rochester Mass is the first time that Funk music and a religious mass have been fused!
The Rochester Mass was commissioned by the Queen Elizabeth Hall for a special, unique performance back in spring 2015, which wowed JTQ fans. Subsequently, the album was previewed with a one-off concert at Rochester Cathedral in June.
The album was inspired by the passing of James's father Clive, and The Rochester Mass in dedicated to his memory.
Sanctus Part 1 will be released as a digital JTQ Christmas single.
