Description
The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of conductor Gary Bertini present live recordings of two of the stalwarts of the late 19th / early 20th century French repertoire: Ravel's ballet "Daphnis et Chloe" and Berlioz's legende dramatique "La Damnation de Faust".
Throughout his life, Gary Bertini not only promoted Israeli music, but also helped to shape it. He founded the Israel Chamber Orchestra in 1965 and was its conductor until 1975. He was conductor of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra from 1978 to 1986 and was artistic director of the New Israeli Opera from 1994 until his death in 2005.
