Description
From the streets of a war-torn country to the concerts halls of the world, the story of classical guitarist Mili and her debut album 'Evie's Song' is a truly remarkable one. Bosnian refuge Mili escaped the war in her native country with almost nothing and went on to become one of the most original voices to have emerged in the world of guitar in recent years. Her debut album is a culmination of years of hard work that have seen the beautiful young guitarist and composer perform with Jose Carreras, John Renbourn, Martin Taylor and Tommy Emmanuel in Asia, Australia and Europe and become the first female to teach guitar at the prestigious Purcell School of Music in London. Mili's debut album 'Evie's Song', dedicated to her musical idol Eva Cassidy, consists of fourteen tracks of beautiful melodies that makes classical guitar accessible to a
wider audience.
After Mili and her family escaped the war in her native Bosnia to her adopted home of Australia they struggled making ends meet with low paying jobs. It left Mili with a hunger to play music and the prodigious young girl was given a place to study guitar at a specialist school in Perth, Australia. The events in her early life meant that Mili spent most of her teens practicing the classical guitar, something she is still grateful for. Mili counts her mentor and tutor Dr John Casey as her greatest musical influence "his attitude to sheer hard work is remarkable and the hours he has put in for me and countless other pupils,
including renowned classical guitarist Craig Ogden, are phenomenal". Mili's talent and incredible dedication to her music has seen her go on to perform with opera star Jose Carreras, folk guitar legend John Renbourn and multi-award winning jazz guitarist Martin Taylor. Her recent move to the UK and the release of her debut album caused Classic FM Magazine to write "with her fiery virtuosity she's becoming an international superstar".
