Description
The Duhks are a young kick ass folk quintet hailing from Winnipeg, Manitoba, at the east end of the Canadian Prairies. They are Jessee (vocals), Tania Elizabeth (fiddle), Leonard Podolak (vocals, banjo, writer, arranger, bandleader), Jordan McConnell (vocals, guitar, banjo) and Scott Senor (percussion).
Their show is a pure, unrestrained and dynamic presentation of traditional and contemporary acoustic music designed to make you kick up your feet and party. The harmony of the Celts mixes with Appalachian Old Time fiddle music, with French-Canadian Gigues & Reels, with some of the songs of the great songwriters of the last century and with new songs and tunes written by themselves and by their friends.
A unique collection of young people from a wide variety of experiences and backgrounds, they all come from families where playing folk music was a major part of life. That becomes obvious from the moment they begin to play.
It's the mixture of youth and technical skill that fuels the energy that's always present in their music. Everyone starts to move, The Duhks are fun.
