'The Unsinkable Molly Brown' was Meredith Willson's second Broadway musical following the phenomenal success of 'The Music Man'.
Based on the life of Margaret Brown, the production opened at New York's Winter Garden Theatre on November 3rd 1960, starring Tammy Grimes and Harve Presnell.
This landmark collection includes, for the first time on CD, the entire original demo recordings produced for the stage musical. This includes a superb fully orchestrated studio demo album featuring vocalists Sandy Stewart and Bernie Knee alongside the Elliot Lawrence Orchestra and Chorus.
Also featured are selections from the score performed by composer Meredith Willson alongside his wife Rini and the show's original male lead Harve Presnell. These fascinating composer demos include several cut songs including 'Read the Label on the Bottle', 'One Day at a Time' and 'Colorado, My Home'.
The release includes a bonus disc of cover recordings from Meredith Willson's dazzling score including a full-length instrumental album performed by Andre Kostelanetz and His Orchestra (remastered from stereo reel tape) plus a comprehensive selection of pop vocal cover recordings including songs performed by Aretha Franklin, Nat "King" Cole, Gordon MacRae, Dinah Shore, The Four Aces and more.
The collection is further complemented by detailed sleeve notes by Broadway historian George Dansker. 'The Unsinkable Molly Brown - The Original Demo Recordings and More' is a limited edition release of 500 units only.
