Description
Tease was formed in 1979 in California. When they performed in a talent show organized by Los Angeles radio station KACE, they were discovered by record label RCA and signed a record deal in 1983. At that time Tease consisted of: Kipper Jones (lead vocals), Derek Organ (drums), Thommy Organ (guitar), Cornelius Sims (bass, followed by Jay Shankin in 1986) Rex Salas (keyboards) and Joseph Parson (guitar). Chuckii Booker replaced Rex in 1986 and played the keys on their second album ‘Tease’. Their third album ‘Remember’ was produced by James Mtume. Between 1983 and 1986, Tease released three albums. The first album released in the eighties was their self titled Tease (RCA 1983). And again Tease in 1986 for Epic. The third and last album Tease recorded was Remember on Epic in 1988. Tease plays a mix of bassy, funky, electro groove with Kipper Jones as lead vocalist. Some of their albums remind us of the funkier pop soul sounds coming out of Minneapolis in the mid 80s, but Tease came from the west coast scene with beats, keys, synth, bass and soulful vocals driving it. Nice stuff that’s well worth checking out! -
