This little label, Wax, produced some very interesting music and it's a real pleasure to be able to make it available on CD for the first time. The original 78s had only a limited distribution, a few pieces were on early Atlantic LPs and later 12 tracks came out on a European bootleg, with awful sound quality. So this CD brings this great music, all nicely spruced up, into full viewfor the first time in more than half a century. The 24 tracks feature contributions from THE AL HALL QUINTET, OTTO HARDWICK QUARTET, JIMMY JONES QUINTET, DENZIL BEST'S WAX QUINTET, BEN WEBSTER'S WAX QUINTET, JOHNNY HODGES TRIO, LAWRENCE BROWN, HARRY CARNEY and many more.
