  • Description

This third solo release from multi Juno Award-winning artist Steve Dawson is the first of two albums that were recorded at the same time with the same musicians. Steve is one of Canada’s best-known fingerstyle and slide guitarists, and while this release showcases
those styles, the songwriting is the focus of this album (its companion volume, 'Telescope', will be instrumental) which was recorded in Vancouver with an all-star backing band that includes Chris Gestrin (keyboards), Keith Lowe (bass) and Scott Amendola (drums).
“I was getting ready to make a record that would feature a new batch of songs that I had been writing", explains Steve, "but at the same time I was learning the pedal steel guitar, and had been writing ensemble-based music that would feature that instrument.”
Rather than waiting to record them separately, Dawson decided to put together a crack band and spend a few days in the studio getting the majority of both albums done at once. The idea was to create two completely different projects that tied together sonically and that shared a similar energy.
Tracks: At Arms Length / Dry As Our Luck / Fire Somewhere / Walkin’ Down The Line / Hard To Get Gertie / Room To Room / Somebody’s Got To Help You / Hurricane / Fun Machine One / Today’s Surprise / Ruin My Day / Swinging In A Hammock.
Also available: WE BELONG TO THE GOLD COAST (BHMCD917)
