“Guitararama”, Petit’s first album, marked his move from London Underground busker to featured artist on BBC’s Radio 4 Midweek, BBC Radio 2 and BBC London television.
Chiefly instrumental, (4 of the album’s 17 songs contain vocals), “Guitararama” displays the many faces of blues music – from slow, reflective and mournful to uptempo, brash and blistering – and offers a masterfully panoramic view of the guitar styles afforded by such an approach.
CLASSIC ROCK said “SDP occupies a stunning middle ground between the fire of Freddie King the instinct of Jimmy Page and the soul of Eric Clapton… It’s difficult these days to put a new spin on such an old genre as the blues but Petit has managed it".
GUITAR AND BASS voted the album amongst the Top Ten Albums of the Year and said the album was “proof positive that the blues can move forward in the 21st century”.
