Inspired by the Arab Spring, the Italian musician Stefano Saletti with the Piccola Banda Ikona rediscovers the different kinds of music that tells stories about the sufferings and passion of the peoples of the Mediterranean.
Saletti has created new arrangements of the original compositions which describe struggles against tyrannical power and persecution. He demonstrates the strength of popular music as the voice of the people, from the expulsion of the Sephardic Jews from Spain, the Palestinian Diaspora to the creation of a Sardinian anthem, fruit of the French Revolution and the fight against the excessive power of the barons.
