Description
Other than Johann Sebastian Bach, hardly any other composer left such a diverse, exciting and extensive organ repertoire as Max Reger. If you look at his entire diverse compositional work, you will find that it is primarily the organ works that have gained a permanent place in concert life.
Although Reger regarded Johann Sebastian Bach as his great role model, he succeeded in a unique and ingenious way in pairing the baroque form treasure, its tonal language and the strictly guided counterpoint with its bold, exuberant harmony that almost drifted into dissonance.
Like no other, he influenced organ music at the turn of the 20th century.
The organist Irenee Peyrot has taken on the mammoth task of recording Max Reger's entire organ work. It includes over 200 works with a total of almost 20 hours of music.
This complete recording is published exclusively digitally but from March 19th 2020 (Reger's birthday), an album will be released monthly for all the works.
