Description
Ana Sokolovi? is recognized as one of Canada's foremost composers, and has earned many prizes for her popular, wide-ranging, and highly successful works. This recording focuses on the poetry and humour of her instrumental music. Three works bear the traces of Sokolovi?'s Balkan roots, while transcending purely traditional folklore. The dazzling Trois Études are masterpieces of compositional economy, and the Ciaccona is no less impressive.
