Description
Cliona Hagan… A Life Destined To Be a Leading Lady In Country Music.
What feels like a few short months ago the legendary Queen of Country Music, Philomena Begley, during an interview on RTÉ's 'Late Late Country Special' (2015) predicted that new comer Cliona Hagan would very quickly make her mark on the Irish and UK Country Music Scene to a viewing audience of 1.3 million. True to those words Cliona has indeed took the scene by storm.
2016 – 2018
It has been an amazing couple of years for Cliona filled with awards nights, festivals, cabaret and shows.
Awarded Female Vocalist of the Year at the prestigious Irish Post Country Music Awards (August 2017), and Sunday World Female Vocalist of the Year two years running (2017, 2018). To add to that she was delighted to have been the opening act at Aiken Promotions Harvest Country Music Festival and is looking forward to the release of her second Album later in the year.
Cliona and her Band launched May 2016 under the guiding light of Manager Aidan Quinn (son of Philomena Begley). Since the launch Cliona has not only played to her own packed audiences but also toured with some of the industries greats from Philomena Begley to Nathan Carter.
This young lady from Co. Tyrone hasn't wasted any time when it has come to the studio either. Releasing ten hit singles, including We're All Gonna Die Some Day, The Cowboy Yodel Song and a duet with Michael English 'Crazy Over You'. The first studio Album released October 2016 by Sharpe Music, 'Straight To You' featured fourteen tracks that will take you through the full spectrum of emotions, a must have for any true connoisseur of country music.
The hard work, long hours and dedication to her craft paid off as Cliona was nominated and won a host of 2016 awards in her first year. These included RTÉ's Irish Country Music Awards (ICMA) Best Newcomer, Irish Country Music Radio Newcomer, Tip FM Newcomer, Leinster Entertainment Newcomer, Mid Ulster District Council Civic Award in Recognition of Achievement in Arts and Music, Irish TV Best Newcomer. In 2017 she was named Hot Country Most Promising New Act and this singing sensation has now been named Female Vocalist of the Year at the prestigious Irish Post Awards.
Cliona's amazing talents has also brought her to the small screen hosting her very own Country Music Show 'Keltic Country Ireland'. Numerous appearances on RTÉ, TV3, TG4 and Irish TV bringing her special brand of country music to the masses. Not to forget her spectacular performance as co-host with Malachi Cush at The Irish TV, Irish Country Music Awards which was broadcast worldwide in May 2016.
Cliona's love for music started at an earlier age and encouraged and supported by her family and teachers, studied music and trained classically.
Childhood performances included BBC Radio Ulster, The Grand Opera House Belfast, The Welsh Opera and appearances on RTÉ which included The Late Late Toy Show.
Cliona had her voice classically trained. Success was to follow again with performances on BBC's "Hearts & Souls" TV show and her participation in the Welsh Opera (Excelsior of Love).
2009 was an exciting year for Cliona, when she got to the finals of RTÉ's "All Ireland Talent Show", representing County Tyrone and Northern Ireland. However Country Music was in her heart and where she wanted to be.
She kept her head in the books and music was never too far away! After getting A Levels, Cliona went on to study at Queens University, achieving a Music Degree, then on to Edinburgh University, where she qualified as a Secondary Music Teacher.
Cliona loved teaching but performing was where she wanted to be.
The call of Country Music was never far away and Cliona jumped back on to her country music wagon which has taken her places beyond her wildest dreams.
What's next for this extraordinary performer that has captured the imagination of the industry and the hearts of all those who have heard her music.
2017 was a busy year for the Tyrone song bird. Cliona is putting the finishing touches to her second studio album, which again will be released on the Sharpe label, something for music lovers to look forward to.
The first single from the album 'Little Darlin' was released on 8th September 2017 and will provide a taster of what's to come.
As well as playing her weekly shows on the Irish Country Music Scene with her band, Cliona continues to strive to fulfil all her ambitions in the Country Music and the Entertainment Industry with high profile appearances and events, including tours in Ireland, England, Scotland, Europe and the USA.
They say "good things come to those who wait" but just look what happens when a go get'em girl takes the lead to make her dreams come true. Keep an eye out for the marvel that is Cliona Hagan, experience the music, the warm personality and the beauty that glows from within of this lovely young Country Girl who has always a song in her heart and a smile on her lips. The Cliona Hagan Show will be coming to town, catch her and the boys at a venue near you.
