Rainbow Quest was a US TV Series at the height of the folk boom of the 1960s featuring authentic traditional music played in the atmosphere of an informal back porch picking party. Hosted by one of folk music's best known personalities, Pete Seeger, guests were drawn from across the spectrum of traditional music including bluegrass, country, folk, blues and gospel.
JOHNNY CASH with JUNE CARTER. One of the most revered personalities in country music of the second half of the 20th Century, the late Johnny Cash is featured with his wife in this rare appearance which focuses on his country roots. He talks about his early years growing up in Arkansas and sheds light on the sources of his music, offering heartfelt performances of "I Am A Pilgrim", "There's A Mother Always Waiting Here At Home", "Five Feet High And Rising" and many more.
ROSCOE HOLCOMBE with JEAN REDPATH. Holcombe is an extraordinary banjo and guitar player from Kentucky who performs traditional music of great power. He performs several traditional songs including "Birdie Pretty Birdie" and "Got Up Early This Morning", and plays the banjo instrumental "Little Gray Mule".
