Bossa Nova was born in Brazil in the late 1950s at time when many American jazz stars were touring South America. As a result of being exposed and influenced by this 'new' music, the musicians carried it to the US where it slowly became popular, later culminating in a number of Bossa Nova albums hitting the US charts, most notably those by tenor saxophonist Stan Getz in the early 60s. As a result, a bossa nova craze developed to the point where many other jazz stars of the time included the genre in their concert performances and studio album recordings.
This 3-CD collection presents a comprehensive selection of original recordings from the Brazilian masters themselves, and the renowned US jazz artists who embraced the genre and brought it to the world at large.
