Description
Max Splodge has always been a performer who goes on stage with wacky-and-wild turned up to full-volume. The eighteen songs in this Brighton Concorde gig span a career which began as punk peaked in 1978, and come right to the present. But behind Max's well-loved shambolic and scatological stage persona is a multi-talented artist who can drum, play the trombone, and also act.
His first gig was as drummer in Alien Sex Fiend, and then in 1978 he formed a duo called the Faber Brothers along with guitarist Pat Thetic. They landed a residency at Butlins holiday camp in Bognor Regis where too much punk attitude eventually got them the sack. Not exactly gutted by this, the Faber Brothers went back to live in London and formed Splodgenessabounds, which began gigging in March 1979.
The album Splodgenessabounds was released in January '81 and this DVD features two other songs (in addition to the singles) from that debut - Fell In Love With A Female Plumber From Harlesden NW10' and 'What's That Funny Noise'. Single three `Cowpunk Medium' only made number 69 that May, and then, in time for the Season that year, Max Splodge's The 12 Days of Christmas' came out on the Secret label, but also didn't chart.
