Sam Kelly is a 22-year-old singer, song-writer and multi-instrumentalist set to take the music world by storm with his new mini album 'Spokes'.
Hailing from the depths of Norfolk, Sam's only link to folk music as a young child lay in the Gaelic folk songs that his Irish grandfather would teach him to sing. Although many individual songs and tunes have been lost in the blur of childhood memory, Sam has never lost the love and child-like awe for the beautiful sounds of traditional music, and this passion pours out of him in every note he sings.
His brand new mini-album showcases his incredible vocal talent and diverse approach to song writing and arranging. Moving effortlessly from blistering folk rock to stripped-back, tender interpretations of traditional songs, it's not surprising that Sam has already been championed by the likes of Cara Dillon, and Kathryn Roberts & Sean Lakeman.
Coming from a family largely made up of dairy farmers has given Sam extensive experience of performing in front of hurtfully disinterested Friesians - his musical journey ranges from being a New Roots finalist to being selected for the first ever EFDSS Artist Development scheme.
He is now touring with his band, comprising Jamie Francis on banjo and Evan Carson on bodhran, and they will be celebrating the launch of the mini-album with a special concert at the Green Note, in Camden on the 23rd February 2015.
