  • Description

Festive holiday fun with the 14 Berlin Berlin Flautists! Just in time for the Christmas season these classy cosmopolitan wind instrumentalists are releasing a brand-new CD – dazzlingly polished and nobly presented for all-around listening pleasure on long winter evenings.

The repertoire is lovingly chosen from the treasure trove of three hundred years of music history is just as broad as the fascinating spectrum covered by the instruments of the flute family. Ranging from the tiny-tot piccolino to the hooks and crooks of the mighty subcontrabass flute, its members offer a steady stream of tonal surprises.

Starry Night From Vivaldi’s “Winter” to the “St. Petersburg Sleigh Ride,” from Corelli’s “Christmas Concerto 148; to the golden oldie “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” from Bach’s Christmas Oratorio to the Oratorio de Noël by Camille Saint-Saëns: L’inverno degli flauti (The Winter of the Flutes) presents the old in new guise. And includes something entirely new: it was not too long ago that the 14 Berliner Flötisten premiered “Perseus” from Gotthard Odermatt’s Sternbilder-Suite.

    Christmas music with a difference!
