Description
These CDs were originally published separately between 1988 and 1993.
We consider ourselves a very lucky recording company at SAIN, because one of the world's greatest singers went to school at Pen-y-groes, Gwynedd, the very village where we had our headquarters during the 1970s.
Bryn Terfel was one of many fine young singers at Ysgol Dyffryn Nantlle at that time, but it soon became apparent that he was something very special indeed. He was still a student at London's Guildhall School of Music when he came into our studios to record his first album in 1988, and this was followed by another eclectic album in 1990, displaying the ease with which he approached many styles of music.
These were followed by two classic albums: Schubert's "Schwanengesang" accompanied by Malcolm Martineau in 1992, and the songs of Bryn's favourite Welsh composer, Meirion Williams, accompanied by Annette Bryn Parri, in 1993. In total, 61 glorious tracks by the master singer who delivers the tenderest of lieder songs as well as he delivers the most powerful operatic aria, and whose German is as crystal clear as his native Welsh.
