    This quintessential release compiles one of his best LPs - Ronnie Hawkins' eponymous debut, originally released by Roulette Records in 1959. This masterpiece contains the cream of the crop from his hit-makinstretch for the Roulette label during his early years. Hawkins and his band visited New York and successfully auditioned for Roulette Records, resulting in Ronnie Hawkins & The Hawks. The songs were recorded using two-track technology in Bell Sound studios, New York, in April 1959, with veteran A&R man Joe Reiser at the controls. "Forty Days" reached number 45 on the American charts in July of 1959, while "Mary Lou", which sold 200,000 copies in its first week, reached number 26 in October. In addition to this essential rock & roll LP, 4 bonus tracks from the same period.
