  • Description

White vinyl with blue and red marbling. The long-lost album "Xmas 11" by THE YOBS is being reissued for the first time in nearly 35 years - as a Special Limited Edition on colored vinyl via Last Exit Music. The reissue includes a complete lyric sheet and extensive liner notes by Matt Dangerfield. After releasing one album and two singles with NEMS, The Boys decided in 1977 to swap the letters "B" and "Y" in their name and became The Yobs - just in time for their first Christmas single, "Run Rudolph Run." The following year, during a dispute with their record label, The Boys cheekily released their own bootleg single, "Silent Night," under the Yobs pseudonym. In 1979, after signing with Safari Records, their irreverent take on the Christmas classic "Little Drummer Boy" - retitled "Rub A Dum Dum" - was released just in time for the holidays. To promote the song, The Yobs performed at the Safari Christmas Party at the Music Machine, hosted by Gary Holton and joined by labelmates Toyah and The Boys. Wearing nylon masks to conceal their identities, the band only managed to play a few songs before the stage was stormed by enthusiastic punks. Their equipment was destroyed, and the gig had to be abandoned - marking the only live appearance ever by the five original Yobs. In 1980, The Yobs finally recorded the legendary "The Yobs Christmas Album," written, recorded, and mixed in true Yobs fashion - all within just two days at Pete Townshend's Eel Pie Studios. Two more albums followed, in 1991 ("Xmas 2") and 1995 ("Leads 3 Amps Utd 0"). With "Xmas 11", a unique chapter of British punk history is being made available once again - loud, cheeky, festive, and unmistakably Yobs. Tracks>> 1. Let's Go 2. Senseless Lass 3.
