Description
Second longest running title in the Ace catalogue and deservedly so for the King of the KERRRRRANNNNGGGGGGGGG Guitar.

Description
Ace Records close the curtains on their 50th anniversary celebrations with a royal flush of classic releases that define the label. Five of them are limited editions on coloured vinyl and one is a stone cold classic reissued in its original form (Gil Scott-Heron - The Revolution Will Not Be Televised: HIQLP 165). First up is our classic Link Wray compilation album "The Early Years" which Ace originally released in 1978. Backed by his Raymen this album excavated tracks from his years with the Swan label and contains classic Link Wray instrumental tracks such as his prowl through the 'Batman Theme', 'Rumble'. 'Jack The Ripper', 'Ace of Spades' and many more. "Early Recordings" is released here on sunflower yellow vinyl and limited to 500 copies.

Description
From time to time the Link Wray Swan 45s would turn up at our Rock On Record stores, but otherwise Link Wray vintage material was in short supply, apart from a welcome but dubious LP on Union Pacific. His previous album of new recordings was 1975's "Stuck In Gear", but we also carried a 45 of a coruscating alternate take of I'm So Glad, I'm So Proud from 1972's "Beans and Fatback" LP. So a Link Wray album of his vintage material was on the cards in April 1978, and this CD replicates that in miniature. The sleeve could hardly have been simpler with a cut out a stuck down pic of Link on a yellow background and his name in BIG letters, and now it is an icon of the period. It is hard to imagine in these days of overkill in the re-issue market that this LP was in 1978 one of the few genuine rock'n'roll records available.
