  • Description

Kentucky rockers Black Stone Cherry are releasing their first Record Store Day album, and they really like it. The album contains 12 tracks, compiled from the Black Stone Cherry archives. Half of the tracks (side A on the vinyl) are studio recordings, all unreleased on vinyl or CD. 3 of them are Black Stone Cherry originals, and 3 are Cherryfied versions of songs by The Cult, Tina Turner and Tracy Chapman. The other half of the tracks (side B on the vinyl) are live tracks, recorded on various stages around the world. The band enlisted their friends John Cooper (Skillet), Ayron Jones, Jesse Leach (Killswitch Engage) and Lzzy Hale (Halestorm) to add extra vocals.

In the past two decades, Black Stone Cherry has set a new standard for Southern rock, revitalizing the tradition with its burly riffs and stirring rock hooks. Since its formation in 2001, the four-piece brotherhood has remained Chris Robertson, vocals/guitar; Ben Wells, guitar/vocals; and John Fred Young, drums. In 2023, the band welcomed its dear friend Steve Jewell Jr. on bass/backing vocals.
