Nearly five decades after first picking up a guitar with his father, Michel St-Pere, founder, guitarist, and creative force behind progressive rock band Mystery, is releasing his first solo instrumental album, Like Father Like Son.
Featuring 15 instrumental cover songs, the album is a personal journey through the music and guitar influences that have shaped St-Pere from his earliest days as a young guitarist to the present day. Joined by renowned progressive rock musicians Jimmy Keegan (Spock's Beard, Pattern-Seeking Animals) on drums and Jonas Reingold (Steve Hackett, Karmakanic, The Flower Kings) on bass, St-Pere revisits some of the music that inspired him throughout his life.
Many of the album's tracks began as demo recordings shared on YouTube over the years. After receiving countless requests from fans to record and release them as a complete album, St-Pere decided it was finally time to bring these performances into the studio. Blending melodic guitar, progressive rock, fusion, atmospheric textures, and powerful performances, Like Father Like Son offers a very personal look at the guitarist behind Mystery and HUIS.
