  • Description

Spanning two formative years, this superb 2CD collection captures Jethro Tull in a double bill of live radio performances performed in 1969 and 1970. First up is the SVR2 live radio broadcast from Konserthuset, Stockholm, on January 14th 1969. Second up is the 1970 broadcast from WXRT-FM in Chicago from the Aragon Ballroom on August 16th. Follow along as the group evolved from blues-based upstarts into one of Britain's most inventive and distinctive bands. Led by Ian Anderson, the performances bristle with energy, showcasing the raw power of early favourites alongside increasingly ambitious material from Stand Up and Benefit. Anderson's flute, gritty vocals and charismatic stage presence are matched by a band capable of moving effortlessly from hard-driving rock to delicate acoustic passages. Presented here remastered, these recordings offer an intimate and immediate portrait of Jethro Tull at the dawn of their classic era. Essential listening for fans, this set documents the fearless creativity and musical adventurousness that defined the band's remarkable rise.

From club-stage intensity to progressive sophistication every performance reveals a group pushing boundaries and laying the foundations for future triumphs.
