  • Description

Her name means to be reborn, and in a sense she is. At the age of 44,Rene Marie has returned to a career in music after more than 20-year gap in performing. She's found that most elusive of life's dreams: a strong second act. Growing up in Virginia, she was a bit of a child prodigy and later, being entirely self-taught, devised an unorthodox, but highly effective, system to train her voice, listening repeatedly to the greats who inspired her - notably Ella and Sarah - learningtheir songbooks, copying their rhythms and breathing patterns into a tape recorder until she understood the music inside-out.

And that's when the magic happened and "I finally got bored sounding like someone else so I started experimenting - singing scatand turning non-jazz songs like Stand By Your Man into jazz." The amazing results are here for all to enjoy.
