Description
FIRST ORDER was formed in 1985 in Brooklyn, New York, by Andy Elder, Morgan Liebman, Chris Berberian and Eric J Morgan. In 1986 "The First Four" Demo is recorded at Bolt Studios in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, with Keith Alexander (Carnivore/Primal Scream) producing and Robbie Graham (Primal Scream) in attendance; both sang backing vocals with the band. Same year they also did their first live show at St. Joseph's Auditorium, NYC. Morgan leaves the group and Bryan enters on vocals, also bringing rhythm guitar chops; the"classic" lineup is formed! In 1987 "Life Isn't Fair" Demo was recorded in Chris' basement, engineered by Chris (The Walnut) Walton. More shows follow in 1988 and in 1989 "First Order III" Demo is recorded, again in Chris' basement, and again engineered by The Walnut, including vocals tracked in his Upper East Side apartment. In 1990 Eric departs and John Fazio entered on bass, creating the third and final line up.
First Order shared stages throughout the years with Slayer, Sheer Terror, Mentors, Death, Overkill, Whiplash, Primal Scream, Ludichrist, Life of Agony, Repulsion (pre-Type O Negative), Crumbsuckers, Biohazard, Nuclear Assault and Sacred Reich.
Reissued for the first time on CD, with the 3 demos carefully remastered by Eric J. Morgan, this is a must-have for all serious 80's Thrash collectors. Includes a 12-page booklet with lyrics, band timeline and photos.
Limited to only 300 copies, co-released with Hellven Records.
"First Order were known for having those signature breakdown parts that inspired those crazy L'amours pits back in the day... and I remember those pits very well. I always enjoyed their great musicianship and crossover sound." - Alan Robert. Life of Agony
"During the late 80's the NY underground thrash movement gave birth to one of the most unsung and influential bands, Brooklyn's own First Order." - Joe Affe. Cro-Mags, M.O.D., Maximum Penalty
"It was mind blowing how talented these dudes were live. First order were kids who played their instruments like seasoned musicians. When Slayer came to perform at L'amour in Brooklyn, First Order were the only band who opened for Slayer that night. That was First Order." - Mike Davis. Mike Davis Productions
"I first discovered First Order in the mid 80's andthey were young, hungry and talented. I helped book them shows and they quickly became fan favorites on the scene, opening for bands like Carnivore and Nuclear Assault. Not only did First Order have a classic thrash sound with a killer groove, they were all really cool and down to earth guys." - Jermaine Gerena. Local Promoter.
