Description
Hildegard of Bingen, one of the most remarkable female figures of the Middle Ages, maintained a lively written exchange with numerous religious and secular dignitaries. The long-untapped treasure of surviving letter evidences not only her influence on important political and socio-critical issues of the 12th century, but also a deep-felt companionship which she shared with her correspondents. On this CD, ALA AUREA follows the letters of Hildegard with unique interpretations of her music. ALA AUREA is comprised of Maria Jonas and Susanne Ansorg, who create arrangements of medieval music for voice, fiddle, tambura, shruti box and glockenspiel. They are joined in this recording by colleagues Bassem Hawar (djoze), Philipp Lambrecht (bells), Sebastian Pank (soprano saxophone) adn Ars Choralis Coeln.
