Organist, pianist and conductor, Richard Lambert, born in 1951, has spent most of his life in the educational sphere, working for thirty-two years as director of music in the independent and state sectors Lambert isn't a British composer. He's unequivocally an English one. 'If Englishness in music can be encapsulated in words at all, those words would probably be ostensibly familiar and commonplace, yet deep and mystical as well as lyrical, melodic, melancholic, and nostalgic yet timeless' (Peter Ackroyd).
