  • Description

Spatium & Tempus is the debut album by Alta Forma, a project led by Antoine Fafard (guitar/bass), featuring JK Harrison (vocals) and Todd Sucherman (drums).

Having released instrumental music for more than 20 years, Spatium & Tempus is Antoine's first album to feature a vocalist. Although the songwriting process for this project began many years before it finally reached completion, the fundamental challenge in making this music a reality was to find a singer who would fully embark and contribute to it.

JK Harrison had produced and been a co-writer and instrumentalist on Sucherman's solo album Last Flight Home, and was introduced to Antoine by Sucherman. Willing to jump into a new challenge, Harrison provided inspired vocal tracks as well as valuable input into the lyrical and musical direction throughout the process of creating Spatium & Tempus.

The nine songs featured on Spatium & Tempus reflect Antoine's diverse musical influences, which includes prog bands like ELP, Rush, U.K. and Yes, alongside artists who have a more jazz fusion twist to their sound, such as Steely Dan and Gino Vannelli, and classic rock bands including Cream, Led Zeppelin and The Who.

Todd Sucherman has played with Styx for over 20 years. While being an in-demand session drummer, he has won to this day nine reader's poll awards in Modern Drummer Magazine. On Spatium & Tempus, Todd completely immersed himself into the project, bringing the powerful, precise and inventive playing he is known for.

Originally from Chicago, JK Harrison has been a close collaborator with Todd since their early years. A Grammy winner and Emmy and Golden Globe nominee, JK has produced and or collaborated with countless artists, while legends such as Bruce Springsteen, Brian Wilson and Paul Simon have praised his musical abilities.

Fafard's music catalogue features collaborations with some of the world's most respected and influential players, including Vinnie Colaiuta, Jerry Goodman, Gavin Harrison, Gary Husband, Simon Phillips and Dave Weckl. His music has been noted for its intricacy and originality by his peers.

    IN THE PRESS :

"JK Harrison provides clear and powerful vocals, while Sucherman performs ultra detailed parts. Dense and interesting music for fans of progressive rock." - Batteur Magazine -Issue #358(France)

"The profound levels of craftmanship, imagination and innovation which weave and bind this deeply imaginative mosaic cannot be under-estimated. Space and time never sounded so seductively, so enticingly nor so alluring beautiful. Bravo!" - The Progressive Aspect

"This is Fafard's first album to feature a vocalist. I can only hope my obvious enthusiasm for more of anything in line with this phenomenal album is felt in equal measures amongst Fafard, Harrison, and Sucherman. A recent video-statement by Harrison hints as much, so fingers crossed!" - DPRP

"Fafard still delivers prodigiously performed guitar and bass work, supported by creative drums, but the addition of vocals adds a new fascinating component. The singer is American keyboardist and producer JK Harrison, who has an appealing and expressive vocal style that sometimes reminds me of Stanley Whitaker (Happy the Man) and Echolyn." - Progressive Rock Central
