Description
All of the vocalists on this compilation fall into the bracket of 'Blues Belters' with the music pumping behind them being known as 'Jump Blues'. Jump Blues, which started to bloom in the late 1930's, was the last new popular variant of the genre to emerge before World War II put a stop to almost all recording and musical development.
When the war ended the Black working class picked up where they left off and Jump Blues entered a golden age that lasted until the mid-fifties when it, along with so much other roots music, was blown away by the wrecking ball that was Rock 'n' Roll.
On this release we have the very cream of the artists who made Jump Blues such a popular and influential style. Without the likes of Big Joe Turner and Louis Jordan, amongst others, there would have been no Rock 'n' Roll and no Soul and the modern musical landscape would be a very different place.
