Description
With Projet 8, Andre Moisan, clarinetist and saxophonist with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, presents a bold project bringing together eight Canadian composers around a compelling concept: eight works, each approximately eight minutes long, for bass clarinet and octet. Blending jazz and classical music, this recording offers an immersive experience where composition and improvisation come together in a rich and contemporary soundscape. Supported by an original ensemble, made up of a string quartet and a jazz trio, the bass clarinet emerges as a central, expressive, and deeply contemporary voice. Project 8 showcases original compositions by Yves Leveille, Tim Brady, Remi Bolduc, Philippe Cote, Beth McKenna, John Roney, Sebastien Champagne, and Simon Bertrand. A powerful, accessible, and innovative project, destined to resonate with audiences of classical music as well as fans of contemporary music.
