  • Description

Along with The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Clapton, Led Zeppelin and pretty much every rock & blues recording artist, Kara Grainger, the Australian, Nashville-based songwriter/ace guitarist was deeply influenced by the wealth of amazing music that flowed out of Memphis, Tennessee in the 1960's and 70's. For her fifth full length solo album, she set out for this legendary birthplace of the blues, soul and rock & roll. Teaming up with renowned Memphis producer Lawrence "Boo" Mitchell and recording the album at the iconic Royal Studios, they were joined by the great Hi Rhythm Section.

Royal Studios was founded by Mitchell's grandfather, bandleader, producer and arranger Willie Mitchell, who also co-founded Hi Records. From a young age, Mitchell was surrounded by musical greats including Al Green, Ann Peebles, KC & the Sunshine Band, Michael McDonald, The Doobie Brothers and other notables. Throughout his long career as a producer, musician, songwriter and audio engineer, Mitchell has worked with a phenomenal list of artists including Green, Peebles, Buddy Guy, Keith Richards, John Mayer, The Neville Brothers, Robert Plant, U2, Melissa Etheridge, North Mississippi Allstars and many more. In 2016, he won the Record of the Year GRAMMY AWARD for his work on the Mark Ronson/Bruno Mars hit "Uptown Funk".

"Talk about star power, a killer voice and guitar skills. She said to the band as much to the audience, "I think tonight, we'll just play some blues." Playing slide guitar, Grainger began with rootsy blues, her voice full-bodied with plenty of soul. There was clarity there too with that unmistakable bell tone mixed with grit. We were in for some serious musicianship with Kara Grainger. Her vocals packed a punch and she played monster guitar solos that had the crowd whooping and clapping." - Rock & Blues Muse

"Grainger has always been worth the listen for her guitar chops and siren-like voice ...her strongest album yet." - Making a scene

"'I love Kara's voice... A fantastic guitar player and beautiful songs!" - Anders Osborne
