Description
The 10-CD-BOX to warm every Pop-fan's heart: 11 original LPs by Johnnie Ray and 10 by Johnny Mathis. Like few others, these two passionate American vocal-legends stand for the emotions and of the 1950s and 1960s. Johnnie Ray was born in 1927 in Dallas, Oregon/USA. Although he needed a hearing aid since the age of fourteen, he became a musical superstar of the 1950s. His passionate vocal style motivated his female fans at concerts to scream-orgies. Between 1951 and 1959 he made with 21 titles the leap into the American pop charts. As a duet partner of Doris Day and Frankie Laine Johnnie Ray was successful. He also starred in three films before he died in 1990. Johnny Mathis was born in 1935 in San Francisco / USA. At the age of 13, he began training as an opera singer. Eight years later, he went to New York to try as a jazz singer. Mitch Miller, the musical director of Columbia Records, convinced Mathis to sing pop ballads. From 1957 on this resulted in hit after hit and the Crooner with the expressive tenor hit the US charts 44 times until 1984. He even managed to be in the upper realms of the charts during the peak of the Rock & Roll-boom.
