Description
ORIGINALLY RELEASED IN 2011, THE DOUBLE STUDIO ALBUM & SECOND IN STEVEN WILSON'S SOLO CAREER RECEIVES ITS FIRST RELEASE VIA TRANSMISSION.
Steven Wilson, four-time Grammy nominee, multi-instrumentalist, producer, author & founding member of Porcupine Tree returned in 2011 with his second studio album 'Grace For Drowning'.
Sonically the album is a departure from the more straight-ahead approach of his 2009 debut 'Insurgentes' & instead favours ideas of Progressive Rock paying homage to the early 70's & late 60's. Wanting to push the envelope of his song writing ability ever further, tracks like 23-minute 'Raider II' sprawl out but never lose focus of Wilson's genius song writing ability on the likes of 'Deform To Form A Star'.
Alongside Wilson appears an all-star cast made up of Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater), Tony Levin (King Crimson), Steve Hackett (Genesis) as well as the London Session Orchestra who performed strings on the album.
The 83-minute album explores territories that would go on to be investigated further on 2013's 'The Raven That Refused To Sing', reaching #28 in the UK charts & #3 in Germany, returning in 2015 with 'Hand. Cannot. Erase.' which saw him ascend further to #13 in the UK charts & #3 in Germany before 'To The Bone' in 2017 which saw him reach #3 in the UK.
Steven Wilson has also created multiple 5.1 Surround remixes for King Crimson, Yes, Jethro Tull & XTC.
Most recently his band Porcupine Tree released 'CLOSURE // CONTINUATION' which reached #2 in the UK Albums chart & the band are currently performing at major festival across Europe.
