    All pieces on the album were composed in 1876, during Giuseppe Martucci's formative years as a composer. Martucci drew inspiration from Schumann and Brahms, embracing narrative structures, expanded sonata forms, and rich yet disciplined harmony. The rarely recorded Piano Sonata reveals Martucci's lyrical voice emerging, with natural evocations in the style of Grieg and a Liszt-inspired finale blending chorale, fugue, and rondo. Four Pieces Op.31: This introspective suite includes a dramatic Nocturne and song-like pieces in the vein of Mendelssohn, now made available through Ilaria Sinicropi's first recording. Sinicropi's deep connection to the music shines through in her performance and writing, marking a strong debut on the Piano Classics label.
