Description
Heritage presents the second volume of twentieth century British piano music, personally selected by Peter Jacobs. Peter has specialised in performing and recording British piano music for over 50 years and has been one of its foremost exponents. This CD has three large works at its heart, the little-known Rubbra Preludes from 1965, John Mayer's captivating portrayal of Calcutta, Calcutta-Nagar, from 1993 and Samuel Coleridge-Taylor's Petite Suite de Concert which dates from 1916. The large works are interspersed with charming, and largely forgotten, piano miniatures from the likes of Greville Cooke, Cyril Scott, Cecil Armstrong Gibbs, Christopher Headington and Cecil Baumer.
