Description
Sviatoslav Richter's live recordings of Liszt and Chopin, made in Moscow and Leningrad (now St Petersburg) between 1948 and 1963, encompass 29 pieces that have remained unpublished to this day. Since all the recordings are of historical and editorial significance, this edition also includes those recordings that are available only in archival quality. Most of the recordings are of astonishingly fine quality, though; they have all been restored with great care and vigilance by THS Studio in Dormagen. This collection notably includes one of the most difficult piano studies to be found in this edition: Liszt's étude Feux follets (will-o'-the-wisp), which Richter kept in his repertoire for precisely 50 years, from 1938 until 1988. (Excerpts from the booklet text by Andrej Hoteev)
