Description
The music of the Viennese Classical period has always been the signa-ture repertoire of the Heidelberg Symphony Orchestra, whose work has been recognised with numerous awards. The release of their land-mark recording of Joseph Haydn's complete symphonies marks a sig-nificant milestone in the history of the ensemble, founded in 1994. From the very beginning, the Heidelberg Symphony has placed special emphasis on exploring little-known repertoire, bringing long-over looked treasures from the archives to life in benchmark interpretations that often open up fresh and unexpected perspectives on the familiar. With the Haydn's World project, the ensemble seeks to shed light on the many connections Haydn maintained with the musicians of his time, including his colleagues, friends, pupils and rivals, while focusing in particular on his stays in England, through which he firmly es-tablished his reputation as one of Europe's leading composers.
