To mark Leonard Bernstein’s Centenary, Guild is proud to release Nettle & Markham’s recording of their two piano arrangement of Scenes from West Side Story. This was the duo’s first large-scale transcription for two pianos. Created for the Berlin Festival, it was an immediate success. It formed part of Leonard Bernstein’s official 70th birthday celebrations in 1988 and brought David & Richard into contact with the composer – no stranger to two piano performance and transcription playing – in his last years. Sometime later they were delighted to present him with this recording, which has been remastered for its release on Guild. The CD also includes Richard Rodney Bennett’s Four Piece Suite and Grainger’s Fantasy on Gershwin’s Porgy & Bess.
