Description
Internationally acclaimed pianist and composer Antonio Farao unveils Kind Of..., his very first solo piano album, on the independent label Notes Around. A leading figure of Italian jazz on the world stage, Farao takes a new artistic step with this record: an intimate, virtuosic performance blending technical mastery with raw emotion, exploring the solo piano format for the first time as an inward dialogue with his instrument.
The album features twelve tracks, eight original compositions alongside four masterfully reinterpreted standards by Harry Warren, Chico Buarque, Thelonious Monk, and Richard Rodgers.
Born in Rome in 1965, Antonio Farao is one of the most acclaimed jazz pianists of the last decades, with a career built on collaborations with Jack DeJohnette, Chris Potter, Wayne Shorter, Joe Lovano, Bireli Lagrene, Miroslav Vitous, Al Jarreau, Christian McBride and Toots Thielemans, among many others.
He has been repeatedly invited by Herbie Hancock to the UNESCO International Jazz Day global concert, and since 2023 is the only European member of the all-American "McCoy Tyner Legends" quintet. Kind Of...(recorded in a single six-hour session) is his first solo piano album.
"Antonio is not only a fine pianist, but a great one." - Herbie Hancock
