Description
Antonin Dvorak's best-known symphony as an excellent four-handed organ transcription, as well as other works by Dvorak and Liszt, recorded on the core organ of the Frauenkirche Dresden.
Universal organs often have the problem of not being particularly well suited for baroque or symphonic music. The organ by Daniel Kern in the Frauenkirche in Dresden stands out here as an example of an excellently successful bridge between the organ traditions.
The criteria for the choice of the instrument for the present recording of Symphony No. 9 "From the New World" by Dvorak in the version for organ with four hands transcribed by Pascal Kaufmann was the ability to draw characteristic 8'- and 4'-basic parts.
Brothers Markus and Pascal Kaufmann, from Lichtenstein in Saxony, studied together at the Dresden University of Music Carl Maria von Weber and the University of Church Music in Dresden.
