Description
With the release of her newest album, "In My Prime", it is fair to say that Niamh Parsons truly is in her prime. Since last year's release "Blackbirds & Thrushes" her star has been steadily in the ascendant.
Recorded in Dublin, "In My Prime" features Niamh's regular accompanist guitarist Graham Dunne as well as special guests including accordion sensation Josephine Marsh and fiddler Siobhan Peoples.
Niamh has gathered a dozen personal songs from singers andwriters she admires, such as Luka Bloom, Jacqui McShee, Andy M. Stewart, Andy Irvine and Frank Harte, and has arranged them simply or even a cappella.
Some of the albums most striking moments are the unaccompanied duets Niamh performs with her sister AnneIn my prime proves Niamh Parsons to be one of Ireland's most profound interpreters and sensitive practitioners of traditional song. -
