Description
As the spiritual successor to the hugely popular stage show Fields of Gold, the ensemble Singer Pur's new album Sounds of William spans more than half a millennium of musical history, from the early Renaissance to contemporary compositions and modern pop sounds, from profound polyphony to ecstatic dance songs, from desperate lament to spiritual jubilation. The unifying element is the name 'William' in its various forms (e.g. the French Guillaume, Billie as a nickname and 'Williams' as a surname). Prominently represented by musical greats such as William Byrd, Ralph Vaughan Williams and Billie Eilish, the album also features musical settings of poetry by William Shakespeare and Wilhelm Busch. After more than 30 years as an ensemble, Singer Pur is setting new standards with its album Sounds of William.
