Ramesh Shotham (drums, percussion and vocals) was born in Madras, southern India, and started his career in a '50s rock band. In 1980 he came to Europe with an Indo-jazz fusion band and has lived and worked in Europe ever since. URBAN FOOKLORE features five originals by Ramesh and two by members of his band, Madras Special, which is completed by Sandhya Sanjana (vocals), Zoltan Landos (violin, tarangini), Christian Zurner (e-bass) and special guest Mike Herting (piano), and was recorded live by the radio station Europe/ WDR in Germany.
