Description
Saxophonist Bart Wirtz realises his dream of performing with an all-star American band, on this superb recording. Recorded in New York, it features the Dutch altoman in the illustrious company of trumpeter Nicholas Payton, pianist Xavier Davis, bassist Richie Goods and drummer Kendrick Scott. Featuring ten original compositions, the music is inescapably contemporary in sound but respectful of time honoured jazz traditions.
One of the finest young saxophonists in Europe today, Bart Wirtz's playing is a logical extension of such giants as Jackie McLean, Frank Morgan and Art Pepper, among others. He has his own sound, has an open-minded approach to playing jazz and performs with five very different jazz groups including popular Nu-Jazz combo Monsieur Dubois.
