Description
Set down towards the start of Klemperer's longstanding relationship with the Philharmonia Orchestra, these much admired recordings were made almost entirely in an intensive week of sessions in October 1955 that included a celebrated 'Eroica'. Klemperer, who always regarded Beethoven as special, was already perceived as one of the composer's greatest interpreters, renowned for his uncompromising and highly objective attention to structure and overall architecture. Although the recording of Symphony No. 7 was taped in both mono and experimental stereo, this transfer utilizes the mono version. Some of the mono takes differ from those used for the stereo release.
