Description
My Dying Bride formed in the summer of 1990, and after only 6 months of writing together released the now legendary demo 'Towards The Sinister'.
Progress continued apace with the release of their first 7' single 'God Is Alone' for French label Listenable. The single sold out almost immediately, causing eager whispers in the underground, bringing them to the attention of Peaceville Records, who offered the band a deal.
'As The Flower Withers' was My Dying Bride's debut album on Peaceville. It was released in May 1992 – originally limited to just 2000 copies - & contained more death metal elements than found on future releases. With its dark & sinister atmospherics, inspired poetic lyrics, & apocalyptic death & doom metal traits combined, this was a perfect recipe for critics & fans alike; firmly establishing the band as one of the upcoming greats of the UK extreme metal scene.
My Dying Bride have been the leading light of doom metal since their debut. Influenced by acts such as Celtic Frost and Candlemass, the band's heavy atmospherics have carved a huge worldwide following over the years and they remain at the pinnacle of the genre and one of the most instantly distinguishable metal bands.
This edition of 'As the Flower Withers' is presented on 180gm heavyweight vinyl.
