Description
Legendary Dundee singer and songwriter Michael Marra with the band of his dreams – The Hazey Janes, including Michael's daughter Alice and son Matthew.
Michael Marra has released a number of acclaimed albums over the years including the seminal 'Gael's Blue', 'Posted Sober', and his most recent live album recorded in Edinburgh with Mr McFall's Chamber - a beautiful collection of Marra favourites with Robert McFall's stunning arrangements. Michael has also recorded 2 EPs for Tob Records, Silence (2003) and Quintet (2007), and this latest release completes the EP trio with a collection of 6 previously unreleased songs including 'Flight of the Heron' remembering when the singer Gil Scott-Heron's father came from Jamaica to play for Celtic - "he made his way across the sea, so that all men could brothers be". 'Mrs Gorrie' recounts boyhood memories of the woman who lived across the street in the 60s - "she looks cool in shades and headsquare"
Michael is also well known for his work in theatre including The Demon Barber for Perth Theatre and In Flagrant Delicht with Liz Lochhead as well as his own play St Catherine's day.
