Description
The complete works for organ by François Couperin, the great keyboard composer of Louis XIV court. James Johnstone continues his cycle of performances on the great baroque organs of Europe by choosing to perform this recital on the organ built by Julien Tribuot, the king's organ builder, now in the Eglise St Martin in Seurre to where it was removed later in the French revolution. It is the last surviving organ by this great builder in something neiginal condition. James Johnstone one of the leading baroque organ specialists recorded these works as part of 450th anniversary celebrations of Couperin's birth in 2018. Couperin followed his father and grandfather into the role of organist of one of Paris's great churches and composed these two masses.
